The town is located about 18 km from Zalakaros. In the center of the town is Elizabeth Square, named after Queen Elizabeth. In the northern part of the square is the Turkish well, which got its name from the fact that, according to local tradition, an octagonal lower part of it comes from the Turkish castle.

György Thúry Museum

The exhibition in the museum is entitled “People, Roads, Relationships”. The exhibition begins with a presentation of the prehistoric everyday life and guides visitors to all archaeological eras, at the end of which they can relax at the medieval Kanizsa Castle. After the archeological periods, the 18-19. century flourishing Kanizsa comes to life. The permanent exhibition is enriched by computer programs describing the city and the era.

Synagogue

A monumental building dating back to the 19th century. It was built at the beginning of the 19th century and has been remodeled several times since. Today, the building, which is waiting to be renovated, houses concerts and cultural programs.

Lower Town Church

Monument, which dates back to the XVIII. It was built in the 16th century. A Franciscan monastery was also built at the same time. The interesting thing about the baroque church is that its holy water reservoir was once a Turkish tombstone.

House of Fine Arts

Permanent exhibition of the painters Erzsébet Sass Brunner and Erzsébet Brunner and the painter István Z. Soós.

Boating lake

5 km from the city center, in the direction of Kaposvár, on the left side of the road, there is the Boating Lake, which provides boating and fishing opportunities for hikers. The lookout is 500 meters from the lake, which offers views of the surroundings and Nagykanizsa.
